DRS awarded contract worth almost £1million to print and deliver forms for Pakistan census

21st October 2010

Global data capture specialist DRS has been awarded the contract to print and deliver 45 million census forms for the next population census in Pakistan, the sixth most populous country in the world.  This is in addition to the contract to supply Intelligent Character Recognition technologies to capture and process the census data, which DRS was awarded last year.

The new print contract, which is worth almost £1million, was awarded after a meticulous technical appraisal process in which DRS demonstrated its rigorous quality control and management standards, in accordance with ISO 9001: 2000.

The Pakistan census forms have been carefully designed by DRS, in both Urdu and Sindhi languages and in conjunction with the requirements of the customer, to maximise the efficiency of the data capture process.  Each of the ‘short’ census forms can capture the required data for up to 10 people, while the more detailed ‘long’ census forms can capture the data for up to seven.

As is standard with all DRS census projects, DRS will be printing unique barcodes on all the forms so that each page of the census can be individually identified.  The exacting processes that DRS has developed, during the delivery of many similar projects, allows enumerators to easily and accurately fill in the forms whilst in the field and provide the census authorities with a precise record of the location of any single form within any pallet and any container delivered.

DRS has been processing sensitive data capture projects around the world for the past four decades and has been involved in the successful delivery of past population censuses in Australia, Zambia, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Cameroon, Nigeria, Sudan, Ethiopia and Malawi.
